Moderator Guidelines

Interested in knowing more about what it means to be a Trill moderator? Check out our guidelines below! After reading the guidelines, you can submit an application here.

Our Community

Our users include, but are not limited to, individuals struggling with mental health, members and allies to the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals recovering from trauma. Anyone else hoping to make new friends and find support, regardless of identity, may also access Trill. On Trill, everyone is welcome, and everyone belongs. Trill is a safe space for all.

Our community is not a place where everyone necessarily must agree with each other or ever try to change each other. It is where everyone hears, respects, and makes a conscious and substantial effort to understand and empathize with each other.

Assume the best in people

It's easy for intentions to be muddled (or potentially lost) online. Defensive behavior is often unkind. Approach misunderstandings with grace and a growth mindset. Constructive behavior (for example: asking questions, listening and responding respectfully, etc.) is more kind and fruitful.

Feel free

This is a space for self-expression. Speak your truth! Ask questions, and answer questions in return as you are comfortable. As a result, you'll be able to spark new conversations and connections. Embrace the perspectives of all people equitably, and also be kind to yourself and your own needs. You may safely embrace vulnerability within yourself as a way to unlock new pathways to resilience.

Uplift others

When others are vulnerable, be there for them. Your words and experiences have the power to improve someone else's day. Offer support wherever and whenever you can. Don't mitigate, marginalize, dismiss, generalize, stereotype, or neglect the lived experience of another person. Instead, ask questions, validate others' experiences, and critically self-reflect to lean into new perspectives and learn from them.

Our Asks

  1. Speak from the heart.
  2. Listen from the heart.
  3. Be spontaneous, and be courageous with your own heart.

Our Values

Truth

Represent yourself authentically– with dignity and honesty. Explore other people’s truths, and exchange new ideas. Love yourself, and recognize your validity to take up space on Trill and in life. All truths are to be shared and listened to with equal respect and acceptance.
